The purpose of plasNifix

Most of the globally produced ammonia is consumed as fertilizer. However, ammonia is also the favored mechanism to transport hydrogen (H2) over long distances, a fast-growing demand for green mobility. However, industrial ammonia (NH3) production emits more CO2 than any other chemical-making reaction. Due to high temperature and pressure requirements, the current Haber-Bosch process accounts for about 2% of the global energy consumption and 1.3% of CO2 emissions. We at plasNifix want to change that with our patented plasma-assisted nitrogen fixation process. Our method with gaseous catalysts at lower temperatures with decreased energy consumption allows for the exclusive use of green energy.

Our process aims at much higher energy and cost efficiency compared to the classical Haber-Bosch process.
