Our Traction towards Sustainable Nitrogen Fixation

Since its inception during the 2021 pandemic, plasNifix has made significant strides in advancing plasma-based nitrogen fixation technology. Here’s a look at our traction and key milestones:

  • 2021: The idea of plasma-based nitrogen fixation using gaseous catalysts is conceived, setting the foundation for plasNifix.
  • 2021-2022: Our first prototype is built in a garage, following the classic startup journey of innovation.
  • 2022: plasNifix is officially founded in Zurich, Switzerland, marking the start of our mission to revolutionize nitrogen fixation.
  • 2023: A breakthrough year as we secure our first patent and win several awards, including an Innosuisse Innocheque for computer simulations and the Venturekick Startup competition. Our prototype evolves with testing of new materials and designs.
  • 2024: Our process patent enters the international phase, and we receive a full Innosuisse grant to develop a custom plasma source with the Ostschweizer Fachhochschule (OST). We also construct our first industrial-grade reactor, designed to operate under high pressure and controlled via computer.
